To Tortugero

The day started bright and early in San Jose. 345 AM I was up showered and made my way out of hostel Pangea. It was still dark out and I was still half asleep. Must get to the bus station by 445 to get a ticket to Cariari (so the website said) as I am walking in SJ I start to get a little freaked out. They say that the area that I was walking in was sketchy at best. So I was prepared to get my ass kicked (that didn't happen) I made it to the station safe and sound. Found the ticket counter by some guys sayin something I couldn't understand and pointing (thank god he pointed!). Bought my ticket and I had 30 minutes to spare. 5am came... No bus to Cariari... 530 came... Still not bus, at this point I was getting a little freaked out. So I went through my little espanol book that Josh made for me (oh my god so freaking handy!) and the Spanish dict iPhone app (don't leave home without it!) and proceeded to the ticket counter... A que hora es la buse par Cariari? (oh my god did he understand me???!) seis y trenta he says... But he says it so fast I look like a deer in head lights. So he proceeds to write down on the paper 6:30am. A sense of relief went through my body. The bus had not come and the website was FREAKIN wrong! So I sit down and wait. As I am waiting I get a lady next to me that starts talking to me like I know what she is saying. She was saying something like I'm going to tortugero as well.... She shows me so me pictures and I am stoked about it. Then there was this blonde guy that sits down by me and I look at him and was like "where are you going?" he looks at me like I looked at the man at the counter and I get totally confused... "I not understand" and then I feel stupid lol. Later I would find that he was from espana and that I probably should not assume something. Finally off on the bus and get to Cariari and I see three people that had been at hostel Pangea with me and I proceed to talk to them come to find out they are from San Luis Obispo (slo) which seems to be a common thing for people traveling to CR already met five people from SLO.
Tamara, Mike and Eric would come to share some great times with me I asked them if I could tag along with them, it made me feel a lot more comfortable and they said sure.

The they are the picture is a little dark sorry but you will see more of them soon, don't worry. They have been so freaking awesome and have given me the ability to share so really cool moment with someone. From Cariari we would go through the banana plantations and take a long bumpy road to la pavona. Then we had to get on a boat to get to Tortugero. It is the single most coolest trip I have ever taken here come the pictures!

**A note I have been working on this blog for about 30 minutes now and it just crashed on me so now your not going to get the cool walk through... Wll not as good.**

The clic clic was the boat service we took that is what it looks like.

The guy behind Eric and Tamara was the single most helpful person on the trip he had a lot of great info.

This is a river!

A house I will one day want to make!

Welcome to the jungle! The jungle was everywhere! As we were riding down the river we passed a crocodile! It was AWESOME and we even got a few screams lol.

I thought this to be beautiful the contrasts in the green and grey eighths white crane.

The town of Tortugero. The most amazing place I have EVER been to.these people hold some of the richest lives they really know how to live life and cook some damn good food! I have decided this is where I am going to end my trip! 5 days in Tortugero will be pure paradise!

Del mar caribe! This is an amazing beach if you look to your left the beach goes on for as far as the eye can see this is the same with looking to your right.

And the sand is black.
The water is warn and wonderful! Here come the fun pictures.

***CAUTION: these pictures may make you leave your home and come directly to Tortugero and swim with us. We do suggest this!

This was a lot of fun!

And I have made friendships that I hope will last forever! Es La Pura Vida!

First day of exploration.

So today started off early there were things to be done and places to see. It turned out to be gloomy but it is the rainy season (for those of you who know how much I hate rain(cold) the rain is not that cold and it is warm enough to afford to be a little chilly. Anyway. Here is the hostel that I am staying in (just for you Lacey ;) )

The walls in the hallway have cool murals on them it is really dark down there so the picture really does it now justice

I will be here for tonight then I head off to the caribbean coast (dad i was going to do the pacific first until I heard word of the leatherback turtle nesting being now and that would be awesome to see.)

Here is San Jose

This was a cool gazebo (I guess) and it talked about music on it so I had to take a pic.

These two pictures are of the national theatre.

One of the most beautiful churches ever,

This is like their central park. It is big. I was tired in the picture already lol if you couldn't tell. Beautiful park though.

Oh yeah. I didn't mention the flight we flew over Cuba and it's is beautiful!

This is a fun city and it is full of crazy life. The people all smile and it is just a lot of fun. The reggae beats in the hostel are getting to me. So far so good :) off to the coast tomorrow. Then then after the coast I am gonna hit the volcanos! Arinal and the other one I can't remember lol.

So there is my tour from the day. I'm gonna take a nap (maybe)

¡Pura Vida!

Things turned out great when I got here. I thought that my bag was lost because it didnt come up on the belt, freaked me out of course and I went to the counter and they had it in the back room, I guess it came earlier than I did. Perfect!! Then I went and decided that I was going to be smart and stay away from the taxi drivers (because that is what the books say to do) and I walked right through the hordes or them and was making my way to the bus. Pilar caught me and she is a taxi driver. She was awesome and real honest with me, she gave me a lot of things to do and told me places to stay away from. She also gave me a tour around the city, a fast one but one none the less.

Then enter Hostel Pangea. This place is the coolest hostel I have been too and it seems that there are many more in the country. it has a bar and a lounge a pool and it is very updated and mod. I love it. I will send pictures soon.

Peace

Thoughts on an airplane

Sitting here on the plane with the dry, germ infested air filling my nostrils watching "Into The Wild" I think about where this adventure is going to bring me, and am amazed that I'm actually doing this. I hope that it changes my life, gives me some insight as to a path that I should be on. Let the fates take me where they will. There has been this void in my life for some time now and I think this will help me figure out what it is and how to mend myself. I am so busy listening to other people everyday teach, talk, and inform that I have not listened to myself. I have become complacent in my life with a lack of motivation that only the laziest of people have. I need to get that motivation back. (For those of you wondering, this is NOT some way for me to fill a hole and I am NOT depressed. I am however getting back to me, re-igniting my soul, finding that self which had been lost, listening to that urning in my soul). I want to get back being able to see the beauty in the world and life. As I have told many this is my Eat, Pray, Love (probably minus the love). So as I sit here in a crowded vessel crossing America at 30,000 feet, I think about what tomorrow will bring and how wonderful it is going to be. I am scared but at the same time eager to jump in head first, no looking back until the day I return.

I just thought I would share for those of you that would like to know.

getting ready for the trip of a life time

It is amazing how many things I need to do before departure. I thought that I had it all done and I was good to go, HA!

It has been a crazy two years and many people have helped me get through it. Thank you all. You know who you are. I have been blessed with a great family and wonderful friends.

Before I go I would just like to say Hasta Luego and I will return on Aug 1 to the states but I will not be home until Aug 2 due to my flight. I will send texts and call (from a 305 number) every once in a while and I will try to post pictures daily!! Check here daily if you would like.

For those of you interested in my trip, if you would like me to visit a specific place in Costa Rica let me know. I will try to get there and take a ton of pictures and come back and tell you all about it.

Peace!!

Just another day (information)

It is getting down to the wire here now and I am really biting at the bit to get this semester over with! Trying to keep myself floating with my grades right now. I guess I'm a little burnt out on school right now, hence the huge vacation. I have so many things yet left to do to get moved and transferred and to vacationate!!! Anyway, I just thought that I would check in and let those that follow me here know that I will be posting all of my trip stuff here and only here I won't be posting anything to Facebook. So check back here everyday when I leave to get great full length updates on my trip and life after Monterey!
